Volunteer or run for Ability Bow on October 29th

Ability Bow is a team of dynamic and committed individuals striving to support people with disabilities to get fitter and more independent. Our team works with over 400 clients each year and enable people to transform their lives for the better. Every year we take part in fundraising events, with teams of supporters participating in events and raising money for Ability Bow through sponsorships and pledges. In short, we are always trying to generate funds in all sorts of ways.

Join Team Ability Bow for Parallel London 2018

Each year our charity needs to raise over £250,000 to maintain our vital service. We rely on fundraising events to help us fund our work in supporting disabled people to live richer, more active lives.

Now in its second year, Parallel London - the world's first fully accessible and inclusive mass participation push/run event - returns to the Queen Elizabeth Park , Stratford in the summer of 2018 and we’re excited to say Ability Bow have spaces for you to join in !

Protecting Our Service - An Update

In November 2016, due to a lack of adequate government funding, we hit a funding crisis , and we were forced to reduce to a skeleton service losing half our staff and reducing services.  This means that currently the gym is open for people who are well enough to exercise independently after their 12 weeks of support , but is closed for people with complex needs who need continuing one:one help afterwards . Sadly that’s 60% of people referred here!

Why is our gym important?

DeafAbility - Coming Soon!

We have a new exercise group starting soon at Ability Bow which is a health and well-being programme funded by Awards for All. The aim of the programme is for deaf and hard of hearing participants to improve their health and wellbeing through exercise.  With specialist instructors the programme is tailored to the individual regarding additional health conditions that they may have.  With the close help of an instructor monitoring their progress participants will encourage and support each other within a small group before becoming an independent member of our gym .
