Ability Bow generates diverse funds from a variety of sources
Funding to support our service comes from many different sources, including events, classes and grants, with 30% of our income coming from statutory contracts.
We have contractual partnerships with LBTH and City & Hackney CCG to support a number of local people with health issues to exercise and progress towards independent use of the gym.
In order to develop services and to increase the number of people we reach, we also work with support from various charitable trusts, and national funders including Sport England and the Big Lottery Fund. Gym members contribute a small sum towards the cost of their sessions and we generate more funds in all sorts of ways through each year, for example bake sales, GoRaise and sponsored events.
Every year we take part in fundraising events, with teams of supporters participating in events and raising money for Ability Bow through sponsorships and pledges. The events we are linked with are the Virgin London Marathon, Ride London and our local Big Fun Run in Victoria Park.
In short, we are always trying to generate funds in all sorts of ways. In our first decade we raised £2.3 to support 3650 disabled people to exercise. Many of the people we help need long term support to enable them to make transformative change but it is funding for the long term support which we find the most challenging to find.
