Ability Bow joined forces with the 5k Big Fun Run on Saturday 25th October.
Many signed up to support us taking part by running, jogging, walking or using a wheelchair. We had a great day in Victoria Park with 15 out of the 1000 or so particpants representing Ability Bow. Ability Bow also had 20 people in official volunteer roles and 15 or so more who came to support and cheer us on. Out of our 15 fundraisers taking part 4 have disabilities and 2 were using wheelchairs, it was great seeing our supporters of all Abilities taking on the challenge for their gym.
The run was a particularly huge feat for Albie. Albie was referred to Ability Bow a year ago. He was using a wheelchair due to having cancer in his spine which left him paralyzed. Following surgery coupled with very hard work and dedication to his own rehabilitation at Ability Bow, Albie is now walking and completed the 5k without any problems! Quite an impressive achievement we think!! Check him out here
As well as this, James the newly appointed Vicar at St Paul's Church (our site building) was running for Ability Bow - in his full clerical clothing! And stroke survivor and long-standing gym member Angur Miah walked the whole 5k, crossing the finish line to a huge round of applause.
We raised approx £2000 so owe a huge thank you to all our volunteers and the runners from St Paul’s Church, our gym team and trustees.
