We would like to thank you for supporting our 5km Big Fun Run which happens every year in October in Victoria Park. With 10 runners taking part we raised £2260 with part of that being payment for our wonderful course marshals, your volunteering on this event is so important as it translates directly into gym session for our members. This year was bigger and bolder than the last, and it wouldn't have been the same without your support.
We also had the wonderful support of The Pearly Queens of Bow and Tower Hamlets along with the wonderful Samantha Renke and her camera crew, you can see their film here which really sums up the community spirit and what can be achieved when our community rally together.
We also took on a new event in September which was Parallel London, and it was a great success! It takes place in the Queen Elizabeth Park Stratford and is the world's first fully accessible and inclusive mass participation push/run event, it’s a disability lead track event open to all ages and abilities - this means that everybody can take part! We really enjoyed our first time at this inspiring, empowering, unique event .
All of the participants are real life superheroes and we couldn't have hoped for a more uplifting and inclusive atmosphere. Between 8 entrants a massive £5463 was raised in sponsorship ! We are bowled over by the efforts not only of those pushing/cycling/walking/running for AB but for raising much needed funds for our vital service on which so many people depend.
Both events will be going ahead in 2018 with the fun run in the Autumn and Parallel dates to be confirmed for some time in the summer. It costs us £70 to provide a one-to-one exercise session and we only charge £4.50. This makes our service affordable to those who really need it – let us know if you want to join our team or volunteer on events in 2018 !
