Projects News

Aside to our main specialist exercise referral programme, we also have several separate exercise projects that we run during the year. Now most of our projects are starting up new groups so we invite people to join up.

Our MS Exercise Group is for people who have Multiple Sclerosis ; a weekly exercise class for people with MS to improve strength, fitness and mobility, here at Ability Bow Gym.

Helping People in Wheelchairs to Stand

Not everybody knows that Ability Bow has a Standing Frame for wheelchair users. We have had it for a few months now after it was donated by a gym member who didn’t have the room for it at home. The frame actually belongs to Tower Hamlets NHS and we work in partnership with physiotherapists to induct new users and help support people to use it here in the gym.

Ability Bow Instructor Profile - Raz

My name is Razeen Uddin. I'm currently 29 years old and live in North London. Health and fitness has always been a part of my life, and after secondary school I felt I needed to increase my level of physical activity. In school or college you remain seated for so much of the day so I decided to take up different sports.

And another year nearly gone

I can’t believe we are almost at the end of another year! It has been a fantastic year for us with exciting new projects like ‘Keep Moving’ a group exercise followed by tea for stroke survivors. We have seen 16 new stroke survivors making loads of progress in the groups and they have also made new friends.

We say goodbye to much-loved gym member Ann Donald

Gym member Ann Donald passed away this week and will be much missed by all of us in the gym. Ann had been coming to Ability Bow for over a year and had become known to us a hard-working and determined, very lovely lady. She overcame a number of adversities during that time, including breaking her ankle and she inspired us with her tenacity and her can-do attitude to any obstacles presented before her.

Ability Bow Strategy Day

On 18th February we held our annual Ability Bow Strategy Day. The Strategy Day is an 'away day' where everyone involved with the running of Ability Bow can get together and look back on what we have or have yet to achieve in the last year and look forward to what we want to make happen over the next few years.
