London Marathon 2012: What a fantastic day we had on Sunday 22nd April!
We arrived bright and early at Greenwich Park to see if we could spot any Ability Bow runners. Those we did find were grabbed for a speedy photo and we wished them well for the race.
The atmosphere as people lined up in the Start Enclosure was buzzing with excitement! See our Marathon photo album on Facebook Once all the runners had set off on their first mile, we nipped across to Limehouse to The Grapes pub in Narrow Street. By this time, more AB staff and Trustees arrived and we were joined by gym members too.
The wheelchair athletes were first past, then the elite runners followed by everybody else. All eyes were trained on the mass of runners to spot yellow AB vests and when any of us saw an AB runner we shouted and cheered and made plenty of noise. Narrow Street is, well, narrow, but we managed to spot most of our runners. We snapped away with our cameras but we mainly got photos of our runners' backs!
We had 31 runners this year and they will raise much-needed funds towards the cost of running our Specialist Referral Service.
