Ability Bow at the London Marathon 2015

It’s hard to believe that it’s that time again but we’re gearing up for the London Marathon once more. We’ll be at our usual spot on Marathon Sunday (April 26th) at The Grapes Pub on Narrow Street, Limehouse, which is at the 14 mile mark of the 26.2 mile course.

London Marathon 2015 call out

There are still a limited number of places available on the Ability Bow team for April 2015 so please feel free to forward this message or pass the news on to anyone you think may be interested. There’s roughly four months between now and Race Day – plenty of people have achieved a Marathon in less time.

If you know of other runners or anyone who has ever indicated they might like to try the Marathon, now is the time to pass the word on. By raising funds for Ability Bow runners will be helping people change their lives through taking part in supported exercise.

Graham's fundraising venture

Ability Bow gym member Graham who was caught in an avalanche whilst snowboarding in the French alps in December 2012 has a team raising funds for local charities Headway, Bikeworks and ourselves! The wonderful fundraisers are : Michael Sherwood, Neil Watson, Debra Hogg, Simon Ford, Christopher Towndrow, Ian Thomas, Julian Pate, Tim Holt, Ray Vasey, joanne sherwood, Steven Clark,

St Paul's Old Ford Fundraiser

We had a fun Saturday on the 13th September joining the St Paul’s Old Ford Choir for their scratch choir event. The evening saw Ability Bow and the church team up to deliver an evening of fundraising and performance. If the opportunity arises again we can’t recommend enough that you join them for workshops ! Hannah is a wonderful Music Director. £140 was raised and it was great to see old and new faces. Thanks to all who contributed with the bake sale and volunteering and even singing!

Ride London 2014

On Sunday 10th august we waved Ian across the finish line at The Mall completing his Ride London –Surrey 100. Despite the challenging weather conditions (see the rainy photo below!) which have been described as biblical (such severe wind and rain that the course was cut by 16 miles) we found the 2nd Prudential Ride London -Surrey 100 (or we should say 86!) a great success. Ian has raised £636 for Ability Bow (including Gift aid) Thanks so much Ian for your months of hard work training and fundraising!

A London Marathon Thank you

April saw this year’s Virgin London Marathon and what a great day it was. The weather was lovely for the spectators/supporters but a bit warm for the runners! Ability Bow had their usual spot at The Grapes in Narrow Street. Victoria was up early at the start on Blackheath. She spotted quite a few of our runners and was able to give them encouragement and remind them that we would be there to cheer them on at just over the half-way mark.
