Projects News

Aside to our main specialist exercise referral programme, we also have several separate exercise projects that we run during the year. Now most of our projects are starting up new groups so we invite people to join up.

Our MS Exercise Group is for people who have Multiple Sclerosis ; a weekly exercise class for people with MS to improve strength, fitness and mobility, here at Ability Bow Gym.

Our group exercise session in Hackney for Hackney residents of any disability. If you know of anyone who might be interested in dabbling in exercise then please do email us on or phone Jeanette on 0208 980 7778.

Our Stroke group exercise session, Keep Moving is for people who would like to meet other stroke survivors. This is a twice-weekly stroke group gym session and a social get-together afterwards in the cafe. Keep Moving sessions are based at Ability Bow Gym and are suitable for stroke survivors of all abilities. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Fridays for 10 week courses.

And finally, Positive Steps is a brand new project focused on the benefits of exercise on mental health. There are one-to-one exercise sessions plus a group gym class. Anyone who feels that they will benefit from attending is welcome and the programme is suitable for people with mild depression and anxiety to people with more complex mental illness.

To join any of the above sessions you will need an Ability Bow GP Referral completed by your GP.

The cost is £2.50 per session (our usual gym fee is £3.50).

All participants become lifelong members of Ability Bow Gym!
